Forestry Commission Woodland Grazing Toolbox now available online

News Date: 12.05.2010

The Woodland Grazing Toolbox has been put together by the Forestry Commission as a guide for developing a woodland grazing plan. The plan is designed for woodland owners, managers and farmers seeking to manage their woodland to acheive biodiversity and/or cultural heritage objectives using livestock as a management tool.

There are eight sections which each correspond to a section of the woodland grazing plan and include defining habitat types, assessing habitat condition and herbivore impact, determining biodiversity objectives and grazing regimes.

The toolbox is available on the Forestry Commisson Scotland website at www.forestry.gov.uk/woodlandgrazingtoolbox

The toolbox was recently reviewed and updated and any feedback on its use can be emailed to helen.armstrong@forestry.gsi.gov.uk
