Whilst primarily focusing on woodlands, this habitat exists as a dynamic, intimate mosaic with scrub and limestone grassland and management, (especially through grazing) to maintain this mixture and core areas of woodland and open grassland was examined as part of the programme.

In addition deer management was also studied due to the high numbers of Fallow deer in the Wye Valley. Natural England manage several NNRs in the Peak District, mostly renting grazing to local framers who use dairy replacements or young beef stock or sheep to graze. The Project produced a very useful grazing handbook.

The project has now finished but lots of information is available to download from the project website.
