Mae Twyni Pen-bre yn rhan o system dwyni fawr ac yn rhan o Ardal Gadwraeth Arbennig Twyni Bae Caerfyrddin. Mae ar ben dwyreiniol traeth 8 milltir Cefn Sidan. Ni phorwyd yma ers blynyddoedd lawer ac mae helyg y môr yn ffurfio clystyrau sylweddol ac wedi dechrau lledaenu i’r rhan fwyaf o’r twyni. Yn 2006 codwyd ffens o amgylch 77 hectar ac fe gyflwynwyd gwartheg ym mis Hydref. Mae rhaglen rheoli helyg y môr wedi dechrau a'r flwyddyn nesaf fe fydd ffensys yn cael eu codi o amgylch mwy o ardaloedd er mwyn cyflwyno pori i ran fwyaf o’r warchodfa. Mae’r prosiect yn cael ei gynnal gan Gyngor Sir Caerfyrddin gyda chefnogaeth Cyngor Cefn Gwlad Cymru a phorwr lleol.

Pembrey Burrows is part of a major dune system and is within the Carmarthen Bay Dunes Special Area of Conservation. It is located at the eastern end of the 8 mile long Cefn Sidan Sands. Grazing has not been carried out for many years and sea buckthorn forms substantial stands and has begun to spread to most parts of the dunes. In 2006 77 ha were fenced off and cattle were introduced in October. A programme of sea buckthorn control has begun and next year further more areas will be fenced and grazing introduced to most of the reserve. The project is being carried out by Carmarthenshire County Council with support from the Countryside Council for Wales and a local grazier.
