The Gowy and Mersey Washlands project is using Longhorn and Dexter cattle (around 240 combined), and Hebridean sheep (around 200) on 6 sites in northern Cheshire. However we also use these animals on a variety of other sites a total of 12 altogether, with potential to increase. Most come back to our HQ at Bickley to be fed over winter. The three year project focuses on restoring just over 266Ha of coastal and floodplain grazing marsh (a UK, North West, and Cheshire BAP priority habitat).
